A Weepies Earth Day

Happy Earth Day everyone! I have always found it fascinating that scientists could pinpoint the exact birthday of Earth. Amazing.

I’ve got just the right music for celebrating Earth Day. The Weepies new album is released today and you can listen to it for free this week at iLike.com. Check it out and enjoy the tunes. And do something good for the planet today (and tomorrow)… it’s the only one we’ve been given.

PS: I’m working on my “Summer Tunes” blog post. Let me know if you have any recommendations that should be included.

    Remember this? http://russandrebecca.wordpress.com/2008/01/03/whats-up-with-iowa/
Well, my rant was actually correct. I recently read an article in Time (so you know it has to be true) about how biofuels are contributing to global warming and a big green scam. They noted that corn, and thus Iowa, is big business now. Farmers are turning over around 20% of their crop for biofuel production. Thus, driving up corn and food prices. However, it means jobs and money for farmers, so politicians don’t want to make enemies with America’s heartland.
Meanwhile, Brazilians are cutting and burning swaths of land the size of Rhode Island in months to plant soybeans and other commodities to get in on the biofuel boom. Which means that most biofuels are actually coming out with a net negative impact on the environment while leading strong food shortages because of prize spikes (as Rebecca noted).

We now return you to the Weepies and such.

You gotta have some of “The Wiggles.”

    Sean,
I checked out The Wiggles. Fascinating! That’s what we call a “gateway band.” It leads to much heavier stuff like Hannah Montana… which then leads to Hanson and Avril Lavigne… which then leads to Rage Against the Machine… then you chill out and start listening to the Weepies.
