Do you remember when our leaders (in the USA) inspired us to reach inside ourselves to achieve things we had not yet imagined? I can’t. I’ve never experienced that type of leadership in this country. For the past 16 years our leaders have been too busy explaining their own actions and covering up their mistakes to worry about inspiring us. As someone who travels internationally, I am tired of trying to explain our aggressive foreign policies and unilateral decisions that have undermined the authority of the United Nations. People from other countries really do wonder what in the world we think we’re doing over here. But what if someone emerged who could articulate an elevating vision for our nation? Not someone who would solve all of our problems for us (no leader and no government can do that) but just bring out the best in us. Someone who could get us thinking about issues bigger and broader than today’s problems. That would be a good thing.

He is quite an orator and I’ve always been easily swayed by inspirational speeches. I am a little worried about his relative lack of experience, but a hopeful attitude and plan for change may just be what the US needs. Thanks for sharing this speech. I heard about it but hadn’t actually heard it. – Sarah

Character and integrity can be of more value than experience. I hope you are going to vote tomorrow…..Make them bring this thing to Texas!! Barack the Vote!
(You are talking about Obama, right? I mean, no one else in this campaign is inspirational. The video is down, so I’m just going by context clues.)—RP

Sean,
I saw that video but decided to go with the “plain version” instead (just the facts). Maybe I’ll post the “rock-n-roll version” tomorrow… it is awesome. I love seeing Ed Kowalczyk in the video as well… one of my early influences. Barack the Vote!

I too have long been a big fan of Live. In truth, their debut album shaped a lot — AND I MEAN A LOT — of my thinking in high school.

Oh, yeah, and I was glad to see Kate Walsh and Aisha Tyler in the video. They’ve influenced me too.
My wife will love this comment!

Any man that can amass a power-line of players like Oprah, the Kennedys (drunk ones AND sober ones- well, a mimosa, but who’s counting?), the Terminator’s wife and Buddhism’s biggest early 90’s rocker is sure to be destined for greatness. All we need now is Bono and then we well assume our mantle of True World Leader. Once we have enslaved the French-Canadians and the uber-trendy Europeans of South American, we will finish what the British only dreamed of.

while I don’t necessarily disagree with whom you appear to support, I still wonder if 4 years from now, we’ll be shaking our heads saying it’s all the same no matter who’s POTUS. just politics driven by politics
